Kitties Plastic Books and Friends

Good Morning one and all. Thursday already. Yesterday was an all day soaker. It was also trying to mimic a rain forest by gracing us with a 78* dew point. Mark took three showers yesterday. Welcome to climate change. Anyway....my strange little Frieda has a thing for plastic. Fortunately she doesn't chew it, she ardently licks it. She also lays on it. Strange stray kitties have my number.

Boud recommended a writer, Lily King. She is new to me. I looked her up and the audio book, Writers and Lovers, was available. Boud said she was good at her craft and I must say I agree. My blogging pals have recommended so many of the books I have read or listened to. Reading buds and libraries are a wonderful thing.

I spent another evening with my good friend, leftovers. I changed it up a bit with tomatoes. I still have one more dinner of brisket and sweet potato. Aldi has enormous sweet potatoes, giving me two meals out of one of them.

I'm off to seize the moment. Which includes another cup of coffee.

We had a cat that would only drink water out of a faucet! Who really knows the mind of a cat? Stay cool...rainforest like up here also. the humidity is awful!

We do need some of your rain....please forward.

NJ in July is usually about humidity and rain that doesn't cool the air. Sigh. I'm glad you are liking King.

It's suffocating isn't it, Far Side. Since I don't have dogs anymore my attention has been focused on the felines. Strange creatures!

I tried. Hopefully I won't get a return to sender, Lori.

That is what we have become, Boud. Rain used to bring the temperature down. Now it brings the humidity up. She is a writer alright. The narrator is perfect.

The weather was on and off rain and then the sun came out late and the heat and muggly-ness was in full force.

Our evening meal was full of cold veggies and an Italian pasta salad ...

It's not the heat, it's the humidititty. Some of us really suffer from the underboob sweat. Or maybe that's only me?

My daughter's cat, Pixel, prefers to drink from the faucet. She will drink from her bowl but will always jump on the counter when someone turns the water on. If cats could look excited instead of that deadpan 'worship me' look, I feel confident that would be what sets her off... someone turning on the faucet. Her obsession is hair elastics. We found quite a stash of them behind the sofa after Lyssa and Mason moved out.

When the heat goes up, so does the number of showers.

While I am in the shower Allie sits inbetween the liner and the shower curtain and licks the cloth liner that gets all damp! She jumps in to lick the shower walls as soon as I am out and every time I am in there she begs for me to toss a cup of water on the back wall for her to lick. Cats! Gotta love 'em. :)

A passion for licking plastic? I never heard of that before. If a 78 dew point means a 78 humidity level, that's pretty high. No wonder Mark took all those showers.

Hot, humid and wet here as well. We don't have kitties any longer...we now have 2 corgis. There are times my hubby and I look at each other and say, "We should have gotten kittens!". One of our corgis will sometimes begin to lick the carpet....when nothing (that I know of) has been spilled on it. I think it is a texture thing! Thanks for the book recommendation - that's how I find most of the books I read, or listen to.

Hurray for seizing the moment!

Humid seems to be the word, Val. That sounds like a dinner I would like.

😄It's not only you, Ami! A friends cat also is obsessed with hair elastics, but she swallows them. There have been a few trips to the vet.

They all seem to have their thing, Rita. Allie's just happens to be a little different!

A dew point above 70 is considered tropical. the air feels so thick it's hard to breathe. You break into a sweat in a few minutes, nick. It's awful.

I like corgis, Dreaming. A trainer barn I used had them and they were wonderful! My German Shepherd would lick the carpet. I've always had but dogs were my besties. Now no dogs and suddenly I've become the cat lady! I have about 20 minutes left on the book. I was too tired to finish last night. It really is done well. Boud was right on in recommending it.

Well, now.....that is a coincidence! It's engaging. I have flown through it, Kaye.

After seeing all those delicious foods you have for your grandkids that is a fine compliment, Miss Merry!

Leftovers are a good thing, Linda. You said it….cats!

Your leftovers look great! My cat Jacob loved to lick plastic grocery bags. I found out they are made using fish oil. Cats!

Good day
Your cat, Frieda, is quite the character with her plastic fascination—at least she's not chewing it. It's always a journey with stray kitties, isn't it? It's great that Boud's recommendation of Lily King's Writers and Lovers hit the mark for you. There's nothing quite like a good book recommendation from a friend, and libraries truly are wonderful resources for that. And "leftovers" as a good friend for dinner sounds very relatable! It's smart to get multiple meals out of those enormous sweet potatoes from Aldi.

Enjoy that next cup of coffee and seizing the moment.

I shall have to look up that author, Sandra. Always on the lookout for a good read.
Way too hot here, 92° at 7pm! I never wanted to live in the south because I didn't want to be trapped indoors in summer. But here we are. It's disheartening.

Sandra said...

At least Jacob had a good reason, e.Frieda enjoys any and all!

Sandra said...

Frieda is certainly a character, Melody My first tortie and they are everything and more I have been told they are! I get many good book recommendations on blogger. There's a lot of readers here. Leftovers are particularly appreciated doing these soggy hot days.

I like it when someone mentions a book. I never would have known about Lily King if Boud hadn't mentioned. it. I remember e brining up "James". What a book that is.
I ;liver in Atlanta for 18 months. Hated summer. We are feeling very much like that now.
