I tried to get a decent photo of Crabby Tabby but he would not stop moving his head. So we have a Blurry Crabby Tabby. It's getting cold enough at night for him to spend some time inside the house. Of course he chooses to spend his time with CatManDo.
We are having snow, large and fluffy flakes coming down and sticking to the ground. Four inches is predicted. It won't last, but I like seeing it. Today will be soup and I think the first fire of the season. I made chicken stock a couple of days ago from the rotisserie chicken Mark had picked up. Let it snow!
I made a vegetable lasagna for last evenings dinner. It takes an afternoon to prepare lasagna. It is well worth the time. This was onion, garlic, spinach and broccoli. And cheese. Did I mention cheese? Ricotta, fresh mozzarella, gruyere, parmesan. Mark thinks anyone very thin is either vegetarian or vegan. I pointed out to him this is vegetarian and won't make you thin. I don't think it gets through to him. 🙄
Today will be inside jobs. Anyone want to volunteer to clean my antique chandelier? It needs it and I feel, maybe, up to being on a short ladder. I bought it in 1979 in a small shop in Minneapolis. I liked it because it's beautiful, in my opinion, but understated. My father wired it for me. The chandelier has moved with me from house-to-house over the years. I'd probably hang it in a studio apartment. I have an attachment to the thing. It's never been grubby before, but it is now. I know you all needed to know this.
The news of the day. So far.

My grandmother, then my mother had our family's antique chandelier. They would tell anyone that helped clean it that they would inherit it. So every member of every generation thinks it is theirs. It came to me because my husband is the one who climbed up to the raised ceiling top and replaced it with a cheapie from Lowe's before I listed my parent's house for sale. All my children think it is theirs because they all helped clean it at grammas. Unfortunately I don't have the ceilings for it and the only one of my children who does is more of a Pottery Barn person instead of 4' of hanging crystals. I have it hidden, lol.
Meanwhile STAY WARM!
4', holy cow! That's one impressive bit of crystal. Gramma was one smart cookie!
I have to admit I'm not ready for snow, yet. 80s here today, plans for sitting outside reading. That's a great looking lasagna.
I like to see the snow. It is drab here at this time of year. It won't last, but I'll enjoy it for awhile, Boud. The lasagna is cheesy and pretty darn good.
Years ago I made veggie lasagna for a co-worker. In fact I made regular lasagna for the rest of us guards but veggie for him as he was vegetarian but ate cheese.
That brings back fond memories of the fun I had with that shift of people.
Anyway, we are blowing away here. I'm so glad those trees came down. 50mph winds here and I am in a little valley!
I'm always wary of doing anything that involves climbing up ladders. Fortunately I don't need to change bulbs very often now so many are LED low wattage. We don't have a chandelier but we do have a very elaborate ceiling light in the living room that has eight bulbs.
SNOW??? I guess it's really not that early in the year, but it sure seems shocking from here. :) Stay in, stay warm, snuggle up with a furry friend.
I'm already too cold and looking forward to spring. We don't even get that much snow here. Once or twice a year, the whole metro area shuts down, we all stay home and drink hot chocolate and binge on Netflix. I have a light fixture that was in my grandparents' house. I know it's from the early 1900s because that's when the house was built. I keep meaning to take it out, clean it and see about getting it wired. It's still in a box, though. Still meaningful.
Yeah that is a blurry tabby but cute
An antique chandelier sounds cool
Considerate of you to make a lasagna for him. I knew you know how to cook, Val!
It's been windy here, too.
I dodn't get it done, nick. I got involved in something else. Tomorrow. The ceiling light sounds interesting.
I like winter, Ami. Not the -30F, but we don't get much of that anymore.
You should get the light fixture out of the box and use it! I bet it's lovely.
He is an unusual tabby. not the typical orange tabby personality, Jo-Anne. The chandelier is not imposing, which is why I like it. Pretty crystal without pomp. I'll post a photo after it's cleaned.
CatManDo! That is hysterical. You are clever and witty.
Take Care,
Kaye
Oh man! That vegetable lasagna looks amazing! I'm a sucker for a good lasagna. I recently did some handyman work for an older gal out here in Idaho and she made me a lasagna as thank you. Best gift ever! Would love to try this lasagna too. Best of luck getting that chandelier clean!
Good grief! I hope you are not sending the snow this way! It was 80 degrees here today and will start cooling off tomorrow. Ahhhhh lasagna. You have me motivated. Be careful if you are getting on that ladder!
😄 I take after my father, Kaye. I can't help myself!
Hello Ace, welcome to my world! That is a wonderful gift. Vegetable lasagna is quite good. I did not tackle the chandelier. Yet.
It's low 20s F this morning. I think we warm some after this. Most of the snow is gone. I look forward to seeing your lasagna, Lori! No ladder yesterday.
Snow! Good for you! So far just frosty here.
Does Mark understand that horses and cows are vegetarians? Definitely not thin:)
I gazed out this morning wondering when we would get our first snow. You won, or maybe lost. 😊
The snow is melted, Far Side. So, just frosty, too.
I read this to Mark. He got a laugh, Pixie!
It was pretty. Now it's gone, AC. Bright sun, cold air.
Nothing like a good layered noodle bake. Pasta is yum. Funny he thinks that about vegheads and vegan. Plenty of chunky monkey vegheads and vegans out there.
He gets a thing stuck in his head and it just stays there, Ivy! My DIL is vegan and stick thin, so maybe this contributes to the idea.
