Candy

The last time I ordered groceries the shopper substituted a large block of chocolate for something I wanted that was out of stock. I didn't know what to do with it, so I made walnut bark. It's sweeter than I'm used to, but it will pass.

It's quiet around here. No sign of Christmas. Gatto being the main reason, I also don't have any interest. Bah, humbug. As with so many, Christmas has never been a joyful time, but one I had to pretend to be happy about. I know I'm not alone in this.

Change of tone....I made stock, I know, hard to believe, from a pork roast bone a couple of days ago. It will become potato, beans and pork soup today. It's a cold and dreary day and soup sounds like just the thing. December without snow is depressing. For me.

That's what I like about Misfits: no substitutions. If they don't have it, you don't get it.
I think a lot of people are sandbagged into pretending to like Christmas. I'm only a moderate fan.

No big decorations here either....as long as I have my Twinkie lights I am happy. I'm just headed out to Wegmans so I can get some cabbage to go with my ham bone for some soup. Just a slight bit of snow here today.

No snow here, there might have been frost but these days i sleep in:) The walnut bark looks great! It will look more like Christmas here soon, I am not a fan of shopping or entertaining so there you have it. Off to the Clinic to make new friends:)

I made chicken stock again last night, thank you for spurring me on.

Christmas is deeply overrated, unless you're five years old.

Boud, fortunately I was able to make use of it. A big block of chocolate! You are right, it's rather common.

Lori, I have those lights on the mantel. Enjoy your soup!

The bark is better than I expected. Somehow the sweetness isn't bothering me. My son and I agreed a few years ago to stop with the presents. Presents were always used as a form of a weapon in the family. It feels good to leave that behind.

I've have great Christmas memories and awful ones. I just decorate for myself... And the toys. It makes a fun backdrop for photography when it is yucky outside.
We rarely see anyone for Christmas and that is okay with us. ❄️😊

Val, you decorate for me, too! I live vicariously through you.

We did not put up a tree this Christmas but the New England village is in its place. Husband Patrick said we could possibly do both, but my reply was WHY? We have a few other decorations here and there and outside the apt entry is quite festive with the shelf tree and penguin and frog in the company of elves.

I bet it's quite festive, Beatrice.

I talked to a lady the other day that told me she feels happiest when the holiday season is over. Whilst I don't feel this way, I told her that I hear that a lot from folks. There's a large number of folks that just want it over and done with. I get that.

Ivy, spam again! Yes, lots of people feel that way.

The G-Kid Force are not Fans of Holidays, it's Sensory Overload for them and The Man, well, he isn't engaged with Holidays either... so I understand. I do the decorating and being Extra for myself. *winks* But, this year I'm a Basic Bitch and it is kinda nice to dial it way back, I ain't gonna Lie, I could get used to doing Simple Holidays.
