Gatto loves himself a box. I ordered a new weed whacker and was feebly trying to assemble it. Gatto squeezed his plump body into the box and made himself comfy. He is a major character, this one.
It rained all day yesterday, clearing in time for the people down the hill to do their huge and never ending fireworks. They aren't legal in Minnesota, but that law is not enforced.
Other than the fireworks, it was a quiet day for us. We did nothing special, other than binge watching The Twilight Zone. Rod Serling was a genius with a story. Too bad he smoked himself to death. I used to smoke, I quit when I was 23-24. I worked with a woman who had one lung removed and still smoked like a chimney. It was motivation for me to stop. Which I did. Well, that was uplifting....
There is nothing planned for today. I will probably make some bread, my go-to when I haven't much in the way of vim and vigor but want to accomplish something. It's overcast, perfect weather for lack of motivation.
It seems I am in a bah-humbug mood. I will end before I infect anyone else with my blahness. Another time.

I too, quit smoking but in my 30's. It blows my mind that people still smoke and chew tobacco. I saw a man who had lost half his jaw to chewing. He wore a silk scarf like a cowboy robber. I talked to him at the Huntsman Cancer Treatment Center in Salt Lake City. He was only in his 30's. It still makes me cry when I think of him.
I hope Mark is doing okay. Words always fail when a death is involved.

Kaye, I also knew a patient in a care facility I worked at in the 70s, a woman who chewed. She lost her jaw to cancer, she wasn't able to talk and was on a feeding tube. She was elderly, but not old. My good friend died from lung cancer a few years ago. That was hard. These things do make you wonder. I'm so glad I quit.
Mark is doing well. He will be sad at the funeral but he seems to be ok. Somehow, it's difficult to be cheerful at this time. Don't be sorry.

Quitting smoking is very hard indeed. I did it, but for decades I still longed for a cigarette.
I hope Mark goes on okay. It's a big adjustment and a total change in his family.
CheerfulMonk, thanks! This is Gatto. He moved in December '22 as an older kitten. He's a handful and a sweet. He manages to be both, sometimes simultaneously!
Boud, It actually wasn't too hard for me, not that it was easy.I smoked maybe 6 years but because I worked where the boss was a heavy smoker and we could smoke in that department I had a 2 pack/day habit. Certain settings could set off the trigger to want a cigarette.
I think he will. The funeral will be difficult and a few days afterward. I have nothing to relate to in this, but I can sympathize.
I quit a long time ago but still would like to have a cigarette from time to time. We heard fireworks last night...not too many or for too long.
Far Side, I'm happy I do not. They are a strong addiction.

HA! You are correct in that, Pixie. I did make bread. I grew to hate fireworks because of what they do to animals, all so people can say aaaaah, oooooh.
It is amazing the actors you see on the Twilight Zone who were unknown at the time. I always loved that show! Waited for it each week. :)
I smoked from age 17 till about 37. Spent several years trying to quit before I did in 1989. SOOO glad I don't smoke. But I have great sympathy for those who can't and for those who don't want to, I guess, because I dreamt I was smoking for over a decade. In my dreams I was telling people that I was cutting down--ROFL! When I smoked I thoroughly enjoyed it. My aunt and I used to joke that when we died we wanted to be buried with a carton and a new Bic lighter. She quit, too, but we'd still say we had that to look forward to--LOL! She was not buried with those items. Neither will I be anymore.
I don't want to spread my down mood either. Been "off" since the debate. ;)
MeTV, an antenna channel, Is doing a marathon of The Twilight Zone through tomorrow. I don't watch it all day, but throughout the day I'll watch some. It's so good.
I had my first cigarette at 13 but I didn't become a smoker then. I was 17-18 when that happened. When I smoked, I smoked a lot!
I watched the TV interview last evening. I was distraught for the rest of the night.
Our gal is not normal and doesn't do boxes. Her beds do have rims/walls, however.
Fireworks are not legal here either and oddly enough we had no one on our ridge making noise at all.

I got an electric weed whacker last year. I like using it. It isn't like a gas powered one, but it is quiet and lets me get done what I want to take care of.
Last night we needed a break from the news so we watched some clips of the Smothers Brothers on YT. Laughing is such good medicine.
AC, 4 out of the 6 don't do boxes, either. It's Gatto and Frieda, Gatto being the most enticed. The rims and wall of a soft bed sound better than a cardboard box.
Fireworks were legal in WI, people went there to bring them into MN. Western MN goes to SD. When did WI make then illegal? Too bad the law is not enforced. The interview was about 30 minutes of ego. My opinion.
Gato looks delighted with his new Box. If only us Humans could be as easily Content as a Feline. I Hope your Mood improves, it sucks when we're not in a good Head Space. Virtual Hugs my Friend.
