Take Comfort Where You Find It.

It's cold. It will remain so through next week, double digit  subzero overnight temperatures most days. I made chicken and dumpling soup yesterday. I'd made the blueberry galette the day before and it is our after lunch treat. This is definitely comfort food weather.

Frieda had her own coup, taking over my chair in the kitchen. I had to move to a different spot at the table, as Frieda normally gets what Frieda wants. They are coddled, why not? They cannot think of a reason why they should not be and either can I.

I wanted to make a quick appearance before I settle into my day. I'm feeling out of sorts. Many of us are.

Yes, many of us are. Even our Feline is Acting Up and Acting Out, Eli pissed in The Granddaughters Drawer Today that held her Hair Extensions and Perfumes... who knows Why? He is a Cat to hold a Grudge and have major Attitude. We had a 'Talk' he and I since she was so angry she was musing with getting rid of him and she is his Human, I'm just Staff. Your Chicken and Dumplings look like what my Dear Dad always made and it kinda made me Emotional... of coarse these days I can get real Emotional about damned near anything. I think we could all be internalizing a lot of this... I even muse if it's Why I had my Stroke out of the Blue with absolutely no Lead Up? You just never know... it's a lot to Cope with and Unpack these days, I should probably be checking in with a Therapist. *LOL*

Yes, a lot of us are out of sorts, and comfort food helps. Also having each others' backs.

Those chicken and dumplings do look warm and comforting. It’s cold here too!

If you lived nearby, I would 'accidentally' drop in at your house around dinner time just about every day. I was musing on my way to work yesterday (40 minute drives are good for contemplation as long as everyone else on the road is behaving) and thinking how weird it is that all the shit is going on and we just continue living life as best we can. We're all living a schizo kind of existence right now.

I love blueberry pie (or whatever that is). I may love apple pie more, but blueberry is pretty special.

Stay warm! Your dumplings look great, I will have to make some one day soon:)

Definately comfort food time....some because of the weather and some to sooth all the anxiety. Anyone who cares about the human race has to be questioning all that is happening in our world. Today I was so ticked I made more calls to the puppets in Washington. I hope thousands of others are doing the same. Frieda has got her groove down!

That pie looks marvelous!!!
My heart is weeping for the people of Ukraine and Gaza. I am just spent. So awful.

Stress really messes with the brain and the body, Dawn. With all the stress of your normal daily life, add this mess on, wouldn't be surprised it contributed to the stroke.

Yes and yes, Boud.

I do like dumplings, Cheerful. Stay warm.

You just nailed it, Ami. It's like living in two dimensions.

You would be welcome, BTW!

It's a galette, and it was good. I like blueberries, too Ac.

As cold as it is down here, I know it's worse up there, Far Side,

I'm sort of in a fog, Lori. I'm sending emails, I should make calls. Frieda knows where it's at!

The cruelty is astonishing, Miss Merry. That it's happening and that it seems it won't stop.

I have been making a lot of comfort food lately, I wish I could make it for the world. Many so badly need comfort right now :))) Frieda has a great spot in the sunshine. She's adorable!

Stay warm my friend. Take a page from Frieda's playbook and relax.

I hope you have on lots of layers. I came to after a nightmare, not a good time for any of us and very schizo...

Sandra said...

Wouldn't that be wonderful, Denise, if that could happen. The aid for all those people has been cut off.No morality at all. Frieda's biggest problem is if I'm late with evening snack time.

We are having some snow flurries right now, Pixie. My drafty old house is not all that warm! I will sit with a book later this afternoon and lose myself in a thriller.

Yes it is, e. It's dystopian in real life.

I love that she gets what she wants. That's wonderful. Also, you had me at blueberry. I'm nibbling on red raspberries right now. Oh my gosh. SOOOO good.

That pink plate. I love it.
Charlie and I spent a lot of time cuddling yesterday. I turned off all devices so as not to update myself on the Horror Show.
Then I did this morning.
At least we are getting snow right now and that should help our drought.

I think Frieda has lots of company, Rita!

I decided to use the plate, what am I waiting for, Val. They were my gramma's rose glass plates. I have several other pieces that have set in the cabinet for decades. We got 2-3" last night.

It is really good when the snow is blowing to sit at a table with a bowl of soup, Haddock.

Thank you. I was gluten free for two years before finding my problem wasn't gluten. I used a lot of Jovial pasta.
