A Note

I didn't have a thing to say today and still don't. I do have a photo, though, of a small wild plum galette I made after lunch. I took a shortcut, using phyllo dough instead of making a short crust. We will have a slice after dinner, which will be beef brisket. A very simple-to-make meal ahead.

We have a beautiful day and good food on the horizon. Is this la dolce vita?

That looks wonderful! Wild plums? You got wild plums??

Sandra said...

Boud, yes. Bill brought me a large amount of them, which I froze but had one cup I kept out. Unknown to me they grow all around here but not on my property. I had no idea. I froze 12 cups. I am anxious to try it, this is new to me.

It looks so beautiful, almost too pretty to eat.

I am glad your weather is becoming more fall like. The leaves are starting to change here. There is more color this year due to all the snow from last year.

OOOOOOOOOOoooooooooooohhhhhhhh. That looks divine. I need to get some phyllo dough!

Sandra said...

Kaye, it needed more sugar, but otherwise good.

Yes, we are finally having tolerable weather. Of course I haven't had the motivation to do anything with it!

Lori, I generally keep phyllo dough and puff pastry in the freezer, it's a good backup.

Far Side, the plums were more sour than I thought, I had to sprinkle more sugar on to eat it. Now I know, which is good as I have 12 cups of them in the freezer!

We have wild plums too. I just discovered them a few weeks ago. I don't know if they still are on that tree but it is a hike of about 1 mile through two valleys...hmmm, maybe worth it?

That looks absolutely delicious. Plum jelly?

Sandra said...

e, once properly sweetened it was lovely.

Val, I still don't know where they are, but if Bill continues to bring them to me I won't ask! I don't eat jelly so I don't make it.
