When You Have a Doppleganger

Like looking in a mirror.

We have another unseasonably warm, dreary day. I did make bread yesterday, although I did need to talk myself into it. The weather isn't helping in the motivation department. It's curl up and read a book weather. I am motivated in that direction.

I have an appointment with Mark's Nurse Practitioner on Monday. He has pressured me to see her, I finally gave in. I need a prescription refilled, so I will benefit at least in that. Mark had a Christmas letter from a former classmate (his entire class for his year was 30!) who wrote about her son's miserable Magical Medical Tour. Over 100 different appointments with primary and specialists with nearly identical results as I had. His labs are good. There is nothing wrong with you. It's all in your head. You know the drill. After a few years he finally found someone who looked deeper and found he has had longterm Lyme disease. He is finally getting better. So, here I go again. Mark adores his primary, not kidding, she almost walks on water. I must be nice. Who knows, she may truly be a saint.

It will be interesting to see if you have some long-term virus going. At least that will be a baseline to go from. And I'm glad you're checking in with an NP. A lot of people prefer their thoughtful care to an MD.

Boud, I asked to be checked for Lyme last year but nothing came of it. I'm not expecting much, other than a prescription refill. I guess I will find out Monday.

I have the greatest respect for many NP and PA's as they have been right on the ball for suggesting care. However, that said, it always seems a bit difficult when something is not obvious.

The human body is so intricate and difficult to figure out even with the best tests in the world.

Good luck and my fingers are crossed for you to find some help.

I wonder what test was finally done to make a diagnosis of long term lymes? Everything is so complicated. I hope you like this gal. I hope that she will be able to help you. Tell her you want back some quality of life and so far no one can come up with a diagnosis and it is not all in your head. Think positive!

It probably won't change anything but it would be so nice to have an answer as to what happened to you.

Those cats, I wonder if they realize how much they look alike:)

Val, the last person I saw was a NP. She told me it was all in my head and if I went to therapy all my pain would go away. Also that I'm obese and old, so what do I expect. So....they are all part of the system and it comes down the person themselves. Mark likes her, so I have some hope.

Lori, I'm jaded, but I'm going.

Far Side, I ask Mark to ask her how it was diagnosed. If it's all in my head I am one powerful person!

Pixie, I really do want to know, even if it can't be fixed.

I wonder if they do know? Gatto loves his reflection in the mirror, so maybe?

I'm so sorry. I hope you will some day get some answers.

I hope things go well for you and that Mark's person is someone you can work with.

Fingers crossed for you!

Miss Merry, I'm not holding my breath. Three years of drs has left me a jaded person. But, I'll see.

Kaye, I'm really just looking for a prescription refill, blood work and a scheduled mammogram.

Thank you, e.

We have only been visited a nurse practitioner for years starting from when we lived in VA. Previously, in our home state of NJ, we visited dr. who never seemed to devote the time to speak with a patient. Here in NH, we elected to go with a NP again and she is patient and helpful, so perhaps you will have a good experience in seeing Mark's especially is she can (almost) walk on water, not an easy feat.

Dorothy, she was engaged and it went fine. Mark said she is probably upset with him for setting me onto her!
