Eggplant and Other Important Issues

My flying monkey, Frieda. The little kitten who knocked on the kitchen door autumn 2019. The kitten who strolled in without a second thought and made herself a home. She looks chubby but in actuality that is a large skin flap. The girl is made for leaping, which she did plenty of until she decided she was a grown cat. Now the only purpose it serves is to sway side-to-side when she trots. It does that purpose well. Let's say Frieda and I have some commonalities. She is no nonsense, determined and can give the "look" perhaps even better than I can. Yes, I have learned torties are unusual.

It is a cooler, less humid morning. Tomorrow is, hopefully, the beginning of a Minnesota autumn. The best time to get outside projects done and to enjoy the out of doors. I look forward to getting a handle on some of the four years worth of my neglect. I'll need to join Lori's husband, Gary, in some porch painting. It's badly needed on the ceiling and floor. If I get a quarter of the projects needing doing it will be a job well done.

There was just now a small cat disagreement directed at Gatto by Jiggs with Frieda looking on. Gatto is a trouble maker. I did follow through with my plan to make sauce for eggplant parmesan. There is enough for another dinner. Tomatoes from my garden! I am now getting some ripe tomatoes. I planted really late. I will be having a lot of green tomatoes on the counters this year. That's ok.

Today is Philly Friday at the deli. We always buy one to split. Mark gets the chips and I have a salad. The sandwich is large and always good. There is the cat and food report for the day.

You have reminded me that astronomical autumn is almost upon us. In my head it has been autumn (metrological autumn) since September, even though it has been too darn hot.

The maples have a bit of yellow but otherwise not much color. It's usually October. I think Sunday is the official day.

A very good place to have just around the corner.

Salad does look yummy.

I could go for that dinner....I could also go for Philly Friday. Must be feeling better. Gary picked a couple more baskets of tomatoes today, but we are not making more sauce....not sure what the plan is. This had to be our top year for the veggie gardens. Please forward the cooler weather....I'm ready.

Tomatoes from the garden. Green or red, both sound good.

As usual, I'm late to the 'party'.
The weather has changed up here nicely. We are in the 50's this morning and will get up in the higher 70's this afternoon.

Fresh tomatoes!

Weare overcast with thunder, no rain yet. The weather should be coming your way. I planted really late so lots of green tomatoes. the plants a loaded with blossoms but I won't see the end product. Gary is a master gardener!

There is such a difference in freshness, Ivy.

Yes, she had high jump skills. She may still have them but now doesn't see the point! She does the resting bitch face better than any human possibly could. The humidity had been a real deal breaker.

My brother has a cat and she has a primordial pouch (I had to look it up) and it swings from side to side as she walks.

I had read that Cheetahs have that, it allows for more stretch of the body for speed and acceleration. And leaping. It's amusing to watch it sway back and forth!

Ah cats...they pick who they want in their lives:) I have lots of green tomatoes coming on too, they are so good!

Cats always look so serious and judgmental I wonder what on earth is going on in their heads. Probably they're just wondering what daft thing I'm going to do next.

I think enough have chosen us for awhile. We have 6! I've never eaten a green tomato.

Sandra said...

I think they judge us all the time, nick, and we always come up short!

I have had several cats with the swinging loose pouch.
Love how she decided your place was home--just like that. ;)
Hope you're having a great weekend and it has cooled off like it has up here! :)

I gave a stray tabby to my mother years ago that had it, not to the degree Frieda does. That's when I learned what it's function is. We had a downpour this morning. It is cooler and less humid. Tomorrow will be a high of 68. I will be outside!

I'm so glad it's cooling off for you!

She has a very expressive face.
My favorite part of fall is needing a heater in the car in the morning and the AC in the afternoons. And it's great sleeping weather.

Lunch was good. Frieda seems to enjoy her life.
