Woe is Me

It's bad news on the furnace. It has to be replaced. The phrase "they don't make them like they used to" certainly applies. The furnace is 12 years old. The one it replaced was 25 years old. He ordered the new one and will put it in on Tuesday. Fortunately it's warming up so it will be ok. Like it or not, we live in a very cold climate and must have a furnace. It's a good thing I preserved all those tomatoes.

So that's the news. Scott asked about my greyhounds and Howard. Mark commented on Scott's remembering them. Scott said he's been here a lot over the past twenty years. True.

If I had anything more to say it's been lost in the maze of my muddled-from-surprise brain. I think I need a glass (or three) of wine.

It sure is. A new refrigerator in May. Now this. I'm holding my breath.

Oh no! But that is what I hear. They sure don't make them last. I recall an old boiler we had that was over 50 yrs old. They put a new liner in it and it was good to go. No computer parts I guess so it would keep on going.
I imagine it is long gone though as that was 30 years ago!

At least you don't have to wait 5 months for a furnace on order, right?

Not good news! You do keep a fire going right???? Sweet, that Mark got to see Little Wonder. It's a good thing it's warming up....today it was so bitter here. Hang on,

Costly replacements are never good news, Sandra. It was amazing to read that the one this one is replacing was 12 years old compared to the one before that which was twice that age. No heat on here yet, but it will be coming soon.

Yes,Val no waiting. It’s in stock so next Tuesday. I didn’t even consider we’d have to replace it. It’s the way things are now.

Yes, Lori, I have a fire, a infrared heater and two oil filled electric radiators! We will be in the 70s over the weekend so it’s ok. I didn’t expect to shell out for a furnace.

It is not good news, Beatrice. Nothing we could do other than write the check. My a/c unit was installed in 1985! It still works but Scott said the coolant isn’t made anymore. We are getting a break over the next couple of weeks on the cold weather. If my house was smaller I could heat it with my pellet stove. But it’s not.

In Minnesota we need furnaces! Our last one only lasted 8 years...2013-2021. It went out during an Arctic blast it was 24 below zero and we were without a furnace for about five days...it sucked....but we survived with every heater we had and the gas fireplace going! Good thing it happened now instead of later. Good furnace guys are hard to find, glad you have one:)

Far Side that's terrible. the timing and such an expensive piece of equipment failing in so short a time. We aren't in the misery you had.
Scott just bought a new cargo type truck. He said he'll be working at least 7 more years!
