Frieda's Got This

Me the next time a doctor tells me to eat less snacks and fast food and exercise more.

How is everyone today? Now that Frieda has given me inspiration I think I'm feeling a bit better!

We are having a pretty snowfall, light and fluffy. It's a coolish day, 15 F, but the snow is lovely. Currier & Ives. I finished Maggie Haberman's book, Confidence Man, a couple of days ago. When I started I thought I wouldn't continue, did I want to rehash all of that? It did keep me interested, as she started in the '70s and worked forward, spending a lot of time on the people around him. In the end, I still don't get it. I got the book from the library in audio form. I'm not sure I could have read it. I'm now actually reading a book, Little Fires Everywhere, by Celeste Ng. It has my interest. I'd be lost without access to the library.

Mark has a procedure today, then next week he meets with rehab to go over what he may need after radiation. I'm so happy he is getting proper care and attention. I've been using that store of frozen tomatoes I am now thanking myself for. Tonight will be a red sauce with meatballs! Freezing whole tomatoes makes removing the skin so easy.

That's about it. Life in the slow lane and all that. Later.

I misread that last line as life in the snow lane which I thought was apt:)

My what beautiful teeth Freida has.

I didn't realize that Confidence Man was about Donald Trump. I'm guessing you felt a strong urge to have a shower at the end of the book.

Pixie, I wasn't clever enough to think of snow lane!

Doesn't she have the best teeth ;)

I will forever be mystified over how he got so much control over so many people, people in his orbit, not just the rabid base. I will never understand it.

Little fires everywhere is a wonderful piece of writing.

I won't waste any time on the appalling MH, bootlicker to the stars. Got her job through her father, kept it through stroking TFG.

I don't disagree with any of that....but it was available through the library and curiosity got the better of me!

I agree about Little Fires, too

Mid 40s here today. Please don't send me your 15 degrees. I must admit that I really enjoy audio books....but have not been able to get in a groove lately. Glad to hear that Mark is getting some good care....hope you get the same. Keep advocating for yourself.

Yes. I have an iPhone 14. The point and shoot Canon camera I use (have been through over 10) went from $129 to over $350. I refuse to pay that and heard they are being phased out because people are taking pictures with their phones. Hmmmm. Since I go through at least one camera a year, I thought it was better to invest in the phone. I will keep my Canon until it dies, then I will totally switch to my phone. Your food photos are gorgeous. What do you use?

That snow scene sounds wonderful especially since we have not had any here in Nashua, NH, but we have had plenty of rain. I like the way Freida thinks too😀 Hope all goes well with Mark’s procedure. I am currently reading the new book by Anthony Horowitz, The Twist of the Knife.

I read the Book his Niece wrote, the Clinical Psychologist. No real surprises in how dysfunctional he and the extended Family are/were. Pretty much he's the same as he's always been and only adept at being a Confidence Man and running a hustle that has ironically worked for him for longer than it ever should have. The System didn't help, since, when he duped Banks by committing Bank and Tax Fraud about his assets, they were into him for so much Money that they knew he couldn't or wouldn't repay, that they gave him a huge Allowance of several Hundred Thousand a Month so as not to panic Investors and those he was doing Business with and give the Illusion he was this Success he claimed to be and a legit Businessman. With first his wealthy Dad Bankrolling him, then subsequent bailouts from every conceivable Source with deep pockets, it certainly contributed to the Con he continued to run. I sometimes think he Believes his own Hype now, that he's a self-made Man, becoz of all the Enablers propping up the Illusion and the Lies used to make him look/appear such an Alleged Deal Maker and Success, rather than being the Kiss of Death on everything he is involved with and covering for his obvious Serious Mental Health issues that make him truly dangerous when given absolute Power. He's already corrupt, and absolute Power absolutely corrupts... and Madmen have always attracted their ilk and weaponized their Lunatic Fringe.

Lori, I use my iPhone 12 for photos. I have a Canon Rebel DSL I bought around 2000. I keep thinking I should pick it up again but the phone is too convenient.

My appointment is this morning, I will see if I can get somewhere this time. I've tried to not be seen as a flake too hard, I think. I had a very bad experience with a doc in 2019 which left me skittish.

Beatrice, it's been cold and snowy up here for awhile. One thing we don't want this time of year is rain! Hopefully you will get some snow for Christmas. My Frieda is a character.

Mark feels fine this morning.

I'll look that book up, I am always on the lookout for the next one.

Dawn, yes to it all. I also read Mary Trump's book. It still boggles my mind that someone so obviously inept has gotten away with everything he has and is revered by so many. Blows my mind.

The first thing I missed during the last years of confinement was just stopping by and having a chat with a couple of friends. The second was going to the library! I am not going now either as there are so many children around that are sick with that virus that is filling up the hospitals here in Colorado.
I am happy to have found, and am enjoying reading your blog.

Thank you, Peace Thyme! I'm happy to meet you. I use the online version of the library for e-books and audiobooks. It's a fantastic service.
