I spent ninety minutes in a closed MRI machine yesterday. I'm not claustrophobic, but that was a bit overwhelming after about the first half hour. I was surprised by how dizzy and weak I was afterward. The young men helping me told me that was normal, especially considering the time spent inside. I had cello music on the ear phones, which was the right choice. I got the results yesterday. Overall, no problems. There were a couple of areas that I don't understand which will need to be explained. The imaging can pick up sinusitis. That surprised me.
The day will be filled with tasks. Monday is laundry day but I wasn't home, so Tuesday is laundry day. I have all but the ricotta prepared for lasagna, no excuse not to make it. Bill stopped by yesterday with several bags of frozen peppers and green beans. He has kept me supplied with these for years, so I stopped growing them. It was so good to see him, it's been awhile.
I thought I'd end with beauty. Sophie. She was beauty.

I'm glad the MRI hasn't revealed anything worrying. But the mystery continues. Now I expect they're thinking endocrine? Imbalances there are invisible but can have profound impact.
And the horse is lovely!
That is a beautiful photo! Stunning.
Well, on to the next part of the mystery.
Boud, the NP said she was going to endo look at my records. The prior primary told me endo would see me even if she referred me. What a mess. I must have strong bones, after all the beatings I took from young horses and a couple of opinionated adult horses I should be a skeletal mess! Must be the cheese and cream.
Val, she was a gorgeous mare.
Yes, the magical medical tour.
Glad they didn't find anything really bad during your MRI, but 90 Minutes is a long time to be in that thing, even with soothing Music. It feels rather like a Coffin and some folks need sedation to even get thru it. Sophie is a thing of Beauty, what an expressive gaze she had.
Dawn, it does amaze me considering what I have done for decades. In 2021 my hips were x-rayed and I had zero deterioration! Unbelievable. I'd be really happy if I didn't feel 105 years old.
Oh, and Sophie was an independent minded mare. She was a force!
Sophie...what a stunner. The mystery of Sandra continues and the good news is that you found out what is NOT wrong. Keep plugging! How was the lasagna?
You are a trooper..90 minutes. You have excellent mind control to endure that. I am glad they found nothing horrid. Now on to the next
medical mystery tour and hopefully an answer awaits you.
Take Care,
Kaye
Glad it is over, maybe the Dr will have more ideas:)
Last time I had an MRI I had to take Ativan.
The perky little technician who shoved me into the tube told me, all bubbly, "Oh! This is the HUGGING tunnel!"
Yeah. No.
I am glad they didn't find anything weird, but it's easier when they DO find something and say, "Oh, that's the issue! Here, take this for two weeks and you'll be all better!"
Lori, yes Sophie was beautiful.
I am happy my spine isn't messed up but not that I'm finding myself in the category of difficult diagnoses, and therefore often, undiagnosed.
Mark picked up pizza so we had that instead. I'll put the lasagna together today.
Kaye, I had only one moment where I felt it was too much. I'm glad I opted for the music, I concentrated on that. Yep, I'm on the tour bus!
Far Side, one can hope!
Amy, hugging tunnel? Oh, my!
I agree with you, having an answer is what I want. I didn't get one, although I am grateful my spine says I'm of even if my body doesn't listen.
Well, good news but no answers, so frustruatingly good news?
What a gorgeous photo of Sophie.
I've had one MRI which resulted in back surgery for me. I think I only had to lie there for 45 minutes, but with my back pain, it was pretty excruciating. I'm glad yours didn't show anything worrying, though I suppose that means the search continues. Oh, and the laundry will wait. :-)
julochka, it took 90 minutes because it was two back to back. The tech put another pillow thing under my knees which relieved the back pain. I really didn't want spinal problems, but yes, this just makes it harder for me to get somewhere with my problems. I did get the laundry done. That was all I got done!
And now I know that I would not do well inside an MRI chamber for the same reasons you noted, Sandra. That said, it must have been a relief to learn that nothing serious was detected after the experience.
Beatrice, I wouldn’t recommend a 90 minute MRI! Yes, I am relieved there is nothing wrong with my spine.
