Bubble, Bubble

Fermenting pizza dough. I don't usually use a glass bowl.
The bubbles are large.

I finally got the lawn mowed. The mower is now over to Bill for some repair. It looks shaggy but it's done. Pixie had suggested leaving some wild. I have long thought about this, but Mark didn't like the idea. I did stop mowing about ten feet out from the front tree line about a decade ago. That is grown-in with bushes and bramble. Nature takes over fast. This mowing I left about twenty feet from the bramble area. Maybe I'll throw wild flower seeds in there. It has always bothered me to have so much tended lawn. It makes me feel like an Ugly American. Only Royals and Americans do this! It's how it was and it's how I've continued. Change seems in order.

Today is to be rainy. It's odd that we can use the rain considering we had five days of rain last week. I did get most of my plants purchased on Tuesday. A Roma and a purple slicing tomato, two eggplant and a zucchini. Several basil, a thyme, tarragon (my favorite), rosemary and sage. I planned to plant today but with the rain it will be tomorrow. I need to go to another nursery for Italian basil, which the nursery in St. Bonifacius didn't have. There's always too much to do in the spring, especially considering our short season.

This has been my life this week. All things considered, it's been good. See, I'm looking on the bright side, yay me! Find your bright side and let it shine.

My go-to nursery for herbs seems to have gone permanently, so I have to find another place for my thyme, the old plant having died after about twenty years, probably worn out.

Boud, that plant lived a long thyme. Sorry, I grew up with a punster father!! It’s too bad they all shuttered, I wonder why? They should have done well the last few years. I’m going to get the rest of what I’m looking for tomorrow. Hopefully you can find what you want.

The bright side looks good on you! We lost a few plants to frost last night.

Sandra said...

Kate, when you think about it, what’s the purpose of all that lawn? Just to show you have it?

Sandra said...

This is a reversal. It’s usually us this happens to! I hope the loss wasn’t too much.

Change in population. More city incomers, not gardeners. Then pandemic. Then owners retired.

Our lawn is currently very shaggy. Our new used lawn mower is in the shop and the shop is run by a bunch of bandits - telling is it would cost 500kr and then charging 3500kr! So, Husband is disputing it. They're one of those places that apparently put an extra "tax" if you have a Copenhagen accent. I've been composing a bad review in my head all morning as I work in the garden.

Sandra said...

Julochka, that is crazy. And criminal. If there was more wrong with it they needed to let you know the additional cost. I hope husband gets somewhere with the dispute.

Sandra said...

Boud, I see. That’s a shame.

Kaye, if I hit a wrong key, your name becomes Kate. Sorry about that.

No problem, the truth is I always wanted my name to be Kate or Brit.
I just had a pleasant experience with a handy man service.
I am appalled with the name change for Wiener mobile I wonder if they are afraid of being attacked for driving a "porn mobile." Crazy...
Take Care,
Kaye

Kaye, a pleasant handyman service is a joy!

Everything is so out of the realm of reason right now. It is crazy. And only going to get worse, I believe.

Best of luck with your lawncare, plantings, veggies, herbs and flowers. The bright side of life looks good on you. Happy Spring and thanks for your comments. Enjoy the new grill, and Happy Spring!

e, it's a beautiful morning. Mark is going to get the pots out of the shed, bring me composted manure and put me to work planting! I love to grill and didn't have one last year.

My Aunt in Englad was neighbors with Paul McCartney and sold him some land, years ago. Paul has been replanting native oaks for decades and it's quite beautiful now. I like the idea of slowly allowing nature to encroach back in. I'm trying to plant more native plants in my own yard and want a native tree but native trees to this area are either way too big or too weedy.

Wow, that's an interesting story, Pixie! We are losing our battle. These are softwoods and propagate like they mean business. In two years this could be woods again. Sometimes we need to use what works and it's not always native.

Great looking dough! I love having wild garden areas...I just mow trail through them:)

Far Side, I never have dough in a clear glass bowl. I was surprised at the bubbles! There is so much tree growth that any area left will become woodland.
