Ho-Hum

Yesterday was overcast, we'd had rain the night before, and humid. We had a temperature of 71 degrees and a dew point of 71 degrees. Somehow, this seemed like a day to simmer a meat sauce. So I did.

By the time dinner rolled around the temperature had cooled considerably. Cool, cloudy and rain in the forecast today, which is good weather for the soup I'll make this afternoon. We've been invited to visit the son and his wife on Mother's Day, which is a surprise we are taking them up on. I get a day out!

I've had a bit of ennui these past few days, I imagine the dreariness outside isn't helping. I started trimming the hedge along the east side of the house and then couldn't finish because of rain. The same for mowing, it's either raining or has rained. The grass and weeds are plentiful. For someone who needs to work up motivation this isn't helpful. So I cook, read and do some cleaning. Some. Next week I plan to buy my herbs and vegetable plants. It's early for Minnesota but it looks like we are out of a risk of frost. This is a good thing to look forward to.

That's about all there is on this end. Gatto is crazy, Frieda is huffy and Jiggs is above it all.

Your dinner looks divine and I know I would love it. I need to find those big fat noodles.

Those noodles look homemade, very good anyway.
Looking forward to planting definitely helps with mood.

Lori, they are pappardelle. An egg noodle. It is my favorite. I don't feel like cooking so tonight will be a repeat.

Boud, I have made them, but frankly these are almost as good and I just need to open the package.
I am looking forward to planting. It's been so dreary.

My dinner is just a grilled cheese sandwich. But it's Havarti and sourdough bread (and Canadian bacon) so I am not complaining.
Enjoy your son visit. I don't see my son very often, although we frequently exchange humorous memes. LOL
Happy Mother's Day!

Ami, Havarti, sourdough and Canadian bacon is never a just a! I don’t see my son often, either.

Your plate looks delightful, and I'm glad you get a day out. Happy Mother's Day!

I too have had a bit of ennui, a perfect way you have described it. Your Food Porn, as always, has made me Hungry at almost 2:00 am, not good. *Ha ha ha* I took such a long Nap Saturday Afternoon that I'm now being a Vampire and keeping odd Hours Tonight, which is fine. I get to do what I want without anyone making demands upon me. Have a great time with The Son and his Wife, glad you got a Mother's Day Outing Invitation, have Fun and have it be ALL ABOUT YOU. *Winks*

Your meal looks perfect for a cool rainy day. Rain, cold, overcast days never seem to be good for 'sunny' moods.

Good for you getting out on Mother's Day!

e, it was nice to get out and have someone cook for me!

Dawn, hopefully you had some leftovers in the refrigerator! It is difficult to break out of that mindset. It's so rainy and dreary here, that does not help.
We had a nice time and a very good brunch. I love his dog. Homer. He is so sweet.

Val, we had two meals with that sauce, it was good. It's still dreary and rainy. When we pulled into the driveway I told Mark the place looks deserted. I need to get the lawn mowed but it won't stop raining!
