Out With the Old. Not Me.

Some blog pals have been winnowing and organizing.
My last big clean-up/clear-out was 2018.

We took space from another room to put in a broom/coat closet, something that was lacking in this hodgepodge house. It's a small space but large enough and made a big difference in organizing those useful but cumbersome items. It also got the coats out of my office closet.

The finished project.

This was a purge of the cabinets in the laundry room. I don't know what happened but they are still packed full of things I don't use.

After cleanup.

Frieda adding artistic interest.

I have let things go for a couple of years. That others are working on eliminating and organizing is putting a little interest back into me to clean up, clear out and get out of this period of stasis.

I find that my mind is calmer when there's less clutter. But then I'm not buried in snow!

Boud, this is so true. You've inspired me to start doing some straightening up. Then I need another purge. I've done several, but not for a few years. I don't want to leave my son what my parents left for me.

When we are buried in snow is the best time for it, there's nothing else to do!

I could not be more impressed! We still have so much to get rid of....in the house and in Gary's barn (disaster area). The arrival of sunshine has made me more ambitious and I hope it continues. I could use a broom closet like that. You are on a roll. Are all those cabinets in addition to whatever you have in your kitchen? Beautiful!

WOW! I am totally impressed with your work and organizing.

I have started asking the universe to please let me just see stuff and not favorite aunts, grandparents or Mom things. Just stuff not people. Stuff just stuff. Things I never wanted in the first.
Does this make sense?
Take Care,
Kaye

Well, I must say that you and the Fur Baby do a very bang up Job of making what was once in chaos, look damned orderly and Editorial, I'm Impressed. I have at times made things look great... AND THEN... well, it's as if I can't help myself and maintain Order and acceptability of the Spaces. It's a vicious ongoing Cycle I'm trying to End one day... I may even Succeed?

Nice job! Wow!

I am in a constant state of trying to stay decluttered and cleaned out. But that is because we don't have much room in our house.

This is impressive! What a beautiful kitchen you have.

I need to clarify. The closet and the cabinet clean out we’re done in 2018. The Frieda photo was taken a couple of years later. I was not clear but thank you !

Lori, yes. This is sort of a butlers pantry/laundry room. There's more cabinetry on the adjacent wall. We took part of a room to make that closet. We will have rain today.

Kaye, it does. There are antiques and heirlooms I kept but everything else went in the dumpster, out with the Junk Guys or given away. It took me 18 months of 6 days a week to clear, clean and spruce that house.

Dawn, I am in that not so organized space right now! I would be overwhelmed by your collection. You are chipping away at it, so you may actually get there!

Val, I have thought I'd do better with a small space. This is not the kitchen. It's a room connected to the kitchen by a walk-through pantry. The laundry is also in there. And Mark's tax library!

Now, you may have inspired others to do some purging and clearing out, Sandra, including myself. During the pandemic when everything shut down and people were staying in all the time, I bought craft supplies and have several shoeboxes in the storage unit. I plan to see if our artistic granddaughter in RI would like to have them and if so, away they will go. If not, there's always a thrift store.

Beatrice, it's so easy to accumulate and so difficult to reduce! She will probably be delighted.

Hey that is so cool anyway! I still love it!

My previous kitchen was the size of a sink, stove, and frig with enough counter space for a coffee pot.

Val, I’ve lived in a few apartment so I know about that! Even my house in St. Paul had a small kitchen. At the time it was built kitchens were for the staff so they weren’t part of the grand plan.
